THE ASCENT DANCE TEAM is an integral part of the Alonso Raven Band and Alonso High School as a whole. This team participates in all marching season activities where they add visual effects using dance, flag, weapon, and poms to our halftime show.

 

As one of the largest dance teams in Hillsborough County, Ascent celebrates the diversity of its members, promotes all styles of dance, and serves students of all experience levels from novice to advanced. The team earns consistent Superior ratings at marching events, District and State solo/small group assessments, while also being visible here in the community at local middle schools, charity events, grand openings, fundraising events, and band concerts. 

 

Multiple opportunities exist for improving skills, learning new techniques, and gaining leadership training during summer camps like those offered at Florida State University, University of South Florida, and Gebhardt. Being a part of the Ascent Dance over multiple years shows colleges a high level of resilience, determination, social skills to work in a group, creativity and problem solving, and co-curricular interest.

 

The Ascent have a first period class in the band room called Eurythmics where they learn and practice choreography. Marching season tryouts are in April/May.

The Raven Marching Band's Ascent Dance Team is growing with approximately 60 members signed up for Fall 2023!  Are you interested in auditioning for Ascent?

After school requirements include but are not limited to rehearsals, dress rehearsals, dance showcases, football halftime performances, and concert performances.

The Alonso Ascent Dance Team strives to entertain and inspire our audiences and peers alike. We support each other's success by maintaining a positive relationship with all our members. As individuals, we work daily to build a disciplinary standard that will help us reach our full potential. We will set our team apart by upholding a culture that emphasizes practice and growth. We know that we have achieved our goal when all members exhibit professionalism on the field and when we are consistently proud of every performance and the progress we make as a team.
