BE A PART OF OUR BAND BOOSTER BOARD

As we are coming to the end of the 2020-2021 school year, we are beginning to look ahead to next school year with high hopes of a much more normal marching band season. With that being said, we need to expand our volunteer base and get more parents involved in our band program. As our band continues to grow, we will need "all hands-on deck" to help to keep the band running at its best!

There are multiple ways you can be involved whether it be a little or a lot. We are looking for parents to help us in all aspects of band.

For the executive board, we will be accepting nominations for all the board positions:

1. President - Responsible for organizing booster activities and chaperones for the benefit of the Alonso Band Program. The President will work closely with the Director, Board and Committees.

2. Vice President – Fundraising – Responsible for researching and organizing fundraising activities to benefit the general band fund and individual student accounts.

3. Vice President – Volunteers – Responsible for ensuring volunteer needs are filled for all events.

4. Treasurer- Responsible for keeping clear records of all transactions or monies made through the booster organization and reporting them to parents/guardians.

5. SecretaryResponsible for documenting and reporting meeting information to parents/guardians.

If you would like to nominate someone (or yourself), please send an email to alonsohighschoolbandboosters@gmail.com with the name and position. If there are multiple people nominated, we will vote in May. All nominations due by April 30.

We would also like parents to help out with the following committees:

Parking Committee - this will involve organizing volunteers to collect parking fees for all home games (usually about 6 people per game); note you will be back in the stadium to see the halftime show.

Equipment Committee

Advocate for our Alonso Band program: As many of our families are well-aware, COVID-19 has taken a very large toll on our Tampa area community. We are very blessed here at Alonso to not only have so many outstanding band students in our program, but to have such an incredibly supportive administration and band parent community. We have all witnessed first-hand the invaluable benefits that being involved in band has had on students' confidence, peer relationships, resilience, commitment levels, academics, and overall ability and appreciation of music in general. I ask that as we continue to maneuver through these times, please continue be an ACTIVE advocate of our band program and band students in any way that you feel is positively impactful. Thank you.
Looking Ahead:
March 27, 2021 Saturday - State Solo & Ensemble (Band AND Dance) Virtual
April 30, 2021 Friday - Nominations due for Executive Board
May 2021 - Band Banquet
May 2021 - Spring Concert
Summer 2021 - Band Camp TBA
